The History of Domaine Margelle Vineyards

The Dream

Today, the ‘Old Vines’ of the original vineyard planted in the late 1980’s have all been removed due to age and disease but much has been replanted. In addition to our Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir we introduced Chardonnay into our planting portfolio beginning in 2007. Today those first plantings are producing some amazing fruit characteristics. Our first estate bottled Chardonnay is summer of 2017. Both the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris exhibit bright acids so typical of our high elevation site. Our Pinot Noir plantings now include Dijon, Pommard, 777 and Wädenswil clones to help us create a stunning estate wine. We are thrilled to be able to offer our clients a taste of ‘The Dream’.

Martinez Family Wall

The wall surrounding the vineyard at Domaine Margelle is the creation of the José Martinez family. Many weekends were spent with the entire Martinez family gathering rocks from the property and carefully placing them to create our dry stack walls. This always included much laughter and fun.
