Bottles of Domaine Margelle Pinot Noir Wine

Elegant Burgundian Style Pinot Gris & Pinot Noir Wines
From Oregon’s Domaine Margelle

We produce limited boutique quantities of our Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir that represent the terroir unique to Domaine Margelle.

Domaine Margelle is nestled in the foothills of the Cascades between 800 and 900 feet on Nekia and McCully soil. Our south, southwestern facing vineyard is designed to capture the most from sun and soil. It started with a 30 year old vineyard of self-rooted vines experiencing disease issues. We were able to produce ‘old’ vine wines for several years to determine that our site and its specific terroir were capable of producing wonderful wines. As part of our commitment to renewal and improved wine quality, we have removed all the diseased old vines and are in the process of replanting. To date we currently have almost 20 acres of producing vines. Along with replanting our original Pommard and Dijon Pinot Noir clones we introduced several new Pinot Noir varietals to include the 777 and Wädenswil varietals. In 2007 we planted our first Chardonnay varietals and are now producing amazing Chardonnay. We continue our commitment to sustainable farming by following Oregon LIVE practices. Our goal continues to be towards a vineyard that is healthy and producing even more nuanced estate wines.

Our first estate bottling began in 2007 with a cold and wet vintage. Despite the challenges of weather and elevation we were able to craft an exceptional wine with the help of winemaker, Mark Vlossak . Over a 3 year period, Mark helped us determine what our terroir was capable of doing with it's combination of soil, elevation and weather patterns. We also experimented with different types of oak barrels and toasting levels to create the best flavors in our wines. Today we work with several of Oregon’s top winemakers to create the ultimate expression of flavors for our estate bottled wines.

We invite you to join us on a journey of discovery to see what our eastern Willamette Valley vineyard can produce.
